1918 prediction
By Stephen Cook

My grandfather, A.T. Campbell, was a doodlebugger in the earliest form. He carried his wand with him when he went to war with the marines in 1918. He was deployed to France. Upon crossing into France he got out his witching equipment, which I still have. It is some kind of metal tube filled with metal shot and is suspended from a small metal chain. Anyway he got it out on the ship and wrote my grandmother an excited letter announcing there were huge deposits of oil beneath the North sea! Many years later after the first North sea well was completed, he wrote the editor of the Tulsa world paper an "I told you so" letter.
