Streakin' Through the Railhead
By Tim Martin
Sometime around 1980 or so, GXI was working out of Montpelier Idaho. Of course if you worked in Montpelier the Railhead Bar was the favorite watering hole for all seismic trash such as ourselves. If you have ever spent much time in the Railhead you know that upstairs is a row of apartments with a central hallway that runs the total length of the building. Outside the back door of the bar there was a stairway that led up to this hallway. At the other end of the hallway you came out to another stairway that led down near the front door of the bar. One night a couple of our crew members who I will not name, what the hell, I will name them, Custer and Kurt Baker (at least my addled mind thinks it was Custer with Kurt) decided to enter the back door of the bar naked and run the length of the bar and into the street, go up to the hallway and retrieve their clothes. At the time all of the apartments were un-occupied so they disrobed in the hallway and made their break for infamy. All of the crew members in the bar knew what was coming but the poor locals were in for quite a shock. The back door flew open and two stark naked juggies entered at a dead run. Most of the occupants of the bar were in a state of shock as the two ran through the bar and out into the street. They hit the sidewalk and vaulted up the stairs in front of the building and discovered to their dismay, that the front door to the hallway was locked. What to do? The only thing that they could do was race back down the stairs, back into the bars front door and retrace their steps. Only this time everyone was ready for them. They must have been tripped ten or more times and had all manner of drinks and beers thrown on them. By the time they made it out the back door and up to their clothes they must have been having second thoughts. I’m sure that if the Railhead bar could talk it could tell a million such stories.
