Anatomy of a Juggy - chapter 1
By: Droopy

I wound up in Oak Creek in February of 1975, stopped in to visit Peter Z on my way to Canada, had too much fun and stuck around. Worked a bit. Played a lot. The sign at the edge of town said the population was 749. There was a huge posse of hippies. Nobody had any money but everybody had a joint and a tab at the Colorado Bar. Some folks worked in the valley, others left town and worked the rigs or construction. I had been painting signs and working for the railroad on and off but mostly I sold .... ummm.... stuff.
I'd swing by "Snob Hill" a few times a week to smoke dope and watch Star Trek with Paulie "Peeeg". One day in September 1975, Paul introduced me to the Archbishop Tim Brown and Moses (can't seem to remember his last name) who were working for CGG in Eagle, Co. We hung out for a while, they told me about jugging, they bought 100 hits of windowpane, goobled a few for the drive and took off.
A few days later Tim and Moses stop by.... besides needin' another 100 hits... their crew was moving to lovely Randolph , Utah and was looking for help. So, in between saving the world and watching Star Trek, we talked about heading to Randolph to check out juggin'. A day later, I was loaded in a truck with Brad "Fifi la Bush", Anna Banana and three dogs on our way to seismic glory.
Now my memories are fond yet a bit hazy. There are specific incidents from my years of seismic that I remember with clarity and others that are a bit blurry.
The CGG crew was working and camping out of the Randolph town park. It was a vibe crew, which I think was #02. Donna Kootcher worked in the office but I couldn't tell you who the PM or OB were if you put a gun to my head. We showed up in the afternoon and the next thing ya know Fifi, Banana and I are on the jug line. Stomping and picking up jugs along dirt roads and farmers fields in sunny Utah. I drove through Randolph recently, didn't look much different. Was a good crew... Uncle Piss, Diane "Two Scoops" and Althea were there. After that contract we moved to Alpine where #01 was working as well. That was an illustrious cast.... Skippy, Rookie, Dewitt Zappa, Dusty Trails, a woman named Denise that constantly said "oh my stars".  I was 19. Probably the youngest on the crew. Alpine, Jeeps, Wyoming were all cool and life was good. The work was fun, the people I worked with were the best and the parties were crazy. Couldn't ask for more than that.
We worked in Alpine until it started to snow. I headed back to Oak Creek for the winter. The following spring I was back on the jug line..... but hey... that might be chapter 2.
