Diane Lee "Two Scoops" Wolford Pac West, Mile High, ??? All field positions

May, 1994

Diane “Two Scoops” Wolford came into my life like she did into everyone else’s—like a smiling, chip-toothed cyclone hollering “Give head!” It was at the Valley Vineyard bar in Afton, Wyoming around 1977 and I will never forget that day, or the many years that followed when she was a real part of my life. She could be lewd and crude but she it was all an attempt to hide the vulnerable woman who showed up in unguarded moments, when you got to know her well enough. She was easily one of the most famous (perhaps infamous) personages in the Juggy Hall of Fame and she will be remembered with love by the last juggy or juggette standing. (Jon Horton)

Stephen "Steve" Hamilton Mile High, CGG, Norpac, Veritas Surveyor, Permit Man 9/6/2003

Steve and I went West from NC together for my first time in 1975. His Father owned The Camp O' The Pines Motel in Pinedale, Wyoming. We were young and had the women and started seismic together. We both fished  and hunted like demons and made our way. Later, with Mile Hi and Norpac, Steve surveyed, permitted and we shared many campaigns together.
Steve had a small cancer on his trachea and when the Doctor aimed the little cobalt beam to burn it, he missed and cut a hole in the side of Steve's main heart aorta vein and he bled to death.

Information

Scott "Worm" Yarborough Mile High, Norpac All field positions 5/16/2005

Many knew Worm. The juggies were bitching and about to return to the office over a trivial thing, in the van, in Moab. Scotty made them stop and let him out. He hitched a ride to the line. I fired the juggies and gave Worm a raise.
He always wanted everybody to run and do better. He got a little wild sometimes and had to be calmed.
Worm returned from a hurricane, as a tree remover and fell asleep at the wheel, only 6 miles from home, on the Interstate and lost his life.
He left many juggies that knew and loved him.

Richard "Dick" Morley Pac West, Mile High, Norpac, ?? Contract Surveyor ????
Harold "Murph" Murphrey Pac West, Norpac, Mile High ??? CEO ????
Phillip "Philthy Phil" Rogers Continental Helicopters, ??? Helicopter Pilot 02/06/1998

Phil was an founding member of "Pat's Pirates."
He had a glass eye. Was great with a long-line and toe-ins.
He would be the mild mannered reporter and then let loose.
He'd drop his eye in your drink sometimes.
Loved flying and speed so he bought a hot motorcycle and crashed.
RIP Philthy Phil The Pervert.

Michael (Sid) and I became best friends in the 1st grade, in 1957, and remained so until his death from cancer. Jim ( Moon Me) Moody Skyline and ? Driller and Juggie September 13, 1995
Moody was killed instantly in a head on collision with a semi truck. He was on his way to work at the Point of the Mountain Prison at the time of the collision. Jim was a great sport and a seriously  but delightfully sick individual. One of my favorite memories of Jim was an alias he used once for the sign in sheet. he signed in as Enos R. Titsoff. I believe he was also responsible for the loss of a drill by way of burning it down to the ground? He is greatly missed by his friends and family.

She also had a class A CDL driver's license and she loved hang gliding until she fell in 1978. We miss her dearly. In the 1980s he got his professional hunting licenses in South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania. He had hunting camps in Masaailand, the Selou and in the west near Lake Tanganyia where I worked for him, building safari camps. He was always the best at what he did and was generous, easy going, and a gentleman about everything he did. He died of lung cancer, though he didn't smoke. (Jon Horton)

(February 27, 1930 - April 25, 2006)

He was a Party Manager for Petty-Ray geophysical in Wyoming, Texas and Colorado in 1972-1975.

He was well liked by his Teams. He also gave me my start in Doodlebugging in 1973 in Wyoming.

His son...John White

Robert was born in Bloomington, Illinois, February 27, 1930, the son of Walter and Beatrice White.
He grew up in a small town, Sullivan, Illinois. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Alice for 51 years.

Robert served his country well, serving in Korea and two tours in Vietnam.
During that time he received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars as well as other medals.

He was employed by the Rock Island Arsenal as a machinist and had several other jobs with the US Government.

Robert worked as a quality control inspector at missile silo sites.

Walter Pegg (Skip) CGG Juggie

May 1981

Information

Skip died along with six other juggies and the helo pilot when the chopper crashed in the North Dakota badlands. The CGG crew operated out of Williston. I worked with Skip, a Montanan, for only a brief time before the accident. He was a good man and an instant friend. (Andrew Selsky)

T.P. McGee (Teep) Petty Geophysical Engineering Company, McGee Drilling Equipment Supervisor (?), President, McGee Drilling November 2006

As a youngster, Teep was a USMC tailgunner in a Dauntless dive-bomber, flying off Henderson Field in Guadalcanal at the same time "Pappy" Boyington was flying there.  Worked for the old Petty company for many years, and basically built all their trucks.  Started McGee Drilling and ran the company until his retirement.  His red and yellow trucks were always spotless, and speaking as the surveyor who had to stay in front of them, his drillers were top-notch.  Survived by wife, Dorothy and son, Mark.  Teep was a force of nature... (John Berryman)
Ron Yocum CGG, ??? Observer, ??? 1982?

A true doodlebugger and friend. (Mike Martin)

Jeff Bullock (Hairface, Bulrock) Helidrill, Bertram, Douglas, Northern, Western, many more Driller December, 2006

If ever a person epitomized the rough and tumble world of a seismic driller it was Jeff Bullock. From the late 70's until 2006 Jeff worked for just about every drill company there was and even jugged on occasion. It was in his blood until the end but it did not define him. Jeff was so much more than just a driller. Jeff was a baseball player, a fan, a voracious reader, a father, a brother and a friend. Jeff's dream job, and one that he was well suited for, was to open a book store/coffee shop. Whenever I needed a good book to read I always asked Jeff, "What are you reading, man?" Jeff told me not too long ago that he had applied for a job at every library in town. He was a rare breed of man that was as comfortable drilling a hole in the mountains as he was discussing Larry McMurtry's latest book or listening to Leonard Bernstein. That's what I will miss about Jeff, his depth, his intellect, his humor and razor-sharp wit and his fearless search for adventure. Whether he found it in books or in driving a buggy over some hellacious terrain, it was what made him tick. I wish I had been able to say goodbye to you, friend. I love you, bro. DP (Don Pounds)

Phil Lemieux Seis Port Exploration Chief Surveyor of all crews 1999 +/-

Phil Lemieux truly was one of a kind.  Very smart, hard working and always fun to be around.  He was tough, it took Cancer several years to bring him down. (Bernie Yantz)

John Morley Mile Hi, Norpac, and many others Permit Man 5/30/07

Information

One day around 1979, in Alpine, John showed up as a hire from the main office. I never liked the office hiring my people. A new juggy was lazy and the crew wanted me to fire him at first chance. The juggy was late and as John waited to meet me I fired the Juggy. He said "my dog had puppies this morning in my motel room." I said "I don't give a damn if your dog had pigs, put your car in R and leave." That was John's first taste of seismic.
John became the absolute best permit man I have ever known and one of the best friends of my life. (Gary Lee)

Tom died of complications of diabetes on March 18th--he was 62.  There are many who loved and appreciated Tom--his compassionate heart, his deep empathy for people and animals, his amazing storehouse of knowledge, and his humor.  And Tom loved so many people he worked with during his life as a juggie.  He also was grateful to live and work in WY--quite a change from the crowds, poverty, and squalor of NYC's Lower East Side.  I feel blessed to have known Tom for 42 years, and I will miss him, as will many other friends.

Homer Lee Lewis (Papa)

Western Geophysical (retired) Exxon/Teledyne Surveyor/Crew Chief

April 22, 2008

I posted this in memory of my grandfather who was a true doodlebugger. He loved his work and was well known and loved by many from the Western boarder of Texas to the Everglades in South Florida and as far north as Tennessee. All of his grand children were given the opportunity to experience the life of a doodlebugger and a profession with one who became a licensed surveyor and now resides in Gulfport Ms. his other two grandchildren sought other professions but will never forget the joys we had being a doodlebugger. We still today tell the stories of the great memories that were created meeting the many great people we had met. Please keep his wife Alice Lewis and family in your prayers.

Griffin Fisk (Skip) Rocky Mountain Helicopters Pilot

March 23, 2003

Skip was command pilot of a Carson S-61 logging in Tennessee. Details are sketchy, but early reports indicate a loud bang outbound from the log landing, followed by another loud bang just before it crashed. Skip was heard to say "What was that?!" and "Oh s...t!" just before the crash. The ship reportedly caught fire. Shawn Winter was the copilot and reportedly gave directions over the radio to guide Life Flight into the area. Shawn was reported to be in critical condition.
